RU VC to take action if BCL leader found guilty

Rajshahi University (RU) Vice Chancellor Prof Muhammad Mizanuddin yesterday vowed to take action against the Bangladesh Chhatra League, RU unit general secretary if the allegation of him sending a death threat to a journalist is proven.
He was addressing members of Rajshahi University Journalist Association (Ruja) at his office.
Amzad Hossain Shimul, a staff reporter of Daily Amader Shomoy at Rajshahi and also a fourth year student of mass communication and journalism department, filed a general diary with Motihar Police Station Saturday night against SM Tawhid Al Hossain alias Tuhin.
Shimul in the GD alleged that Tuhin threatened to kill him during a phone conversation for not saving the BCL leader's phone number in his mobile phone, he said.
The VC yesterday said they were looking into the matter seriously.
Alamgir Hossain, officer-in-charge of Motihar Police Station, they were also investigating the matter.
Meanwhile, Ruja protested the indecent comments made by lawmaker Shamim Osman against journalists.
On Thursday, Shamim Osman called journalists dogs.
