Roman fails, others fare well

The archers who are in the BOA's long-term training programme for Asian Games, except for highly-regarded Roman Sana, succeeded in the inaugural Archery Club Championships which concluded yesterday at the Bangladesh Army Stadium in Banani.
Bangladesh Games gold medallist Roman Sana, who had won a gold medal in the Asian Grand Prix last month, failed to win any medal after losing to Abdullah Al Mamun in the bronze-medal deciding match while experienced Milon, who had won an international gold four years ago, grabbed gold in the recurve bow event beating his teammate Mohammad Sajib.
In women's recurve bow events, Shyamolee Roy beat veteran Mathui Pru Marma to win gold while Hira Moni, who had won gold in the bamboo bow event in Bangladesh Games, bagged bronze medal.
In the bamboo bow events for the beginners, Omar Faruque, Shakil and Kamrul Islam won gold, silver and bronze medals respectively in the men's group while Ishrat Jahan, Nandini Khan Swapna and Jerin Tasnim bagged gold, silver and bronze medals in the women's group.
