Local body lists 239 zero-line Rohingyas on Tambru border

The local union parishad has listed 68 Rohingya families from a zero-line camp on the Tambru border in Bandarban's Naikhongchhari.

The list includes a total of 239 unregistered Rohingyas, said Ghumdum Union Parishad Chairman AKM Jahangir Aziz.

He said the list has been prepared on the instructions of the Naikhongchhari upazila nirbahi officer so that Rohingyas can no longer enter different villages in Bangladesh from Myanmar.

Around 3,000 Rohingyas escaped the violence from the zero-line camp at Konarpara in Tambru and took refuge at Tambru bazar, the government primary school and surrounding areas.

The Rohingyas who have taken shelter there but have not been registered yet were enlisted yesterday, Ghumdum UP Chairman Aziz said.

Naikhongchhari UNO Romen Sharma said the list of unregistered Rohingyas has been prepared. "It will be forwarded to the deputy commissioner," he added.

The decision which would be taken by the deputy commissioner in this regard will be implemented later, he informed.
