Singaporean cargo brings relief for Rohingya refugees

A cargo flight from Singapore landed at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong with 7.162 metric tonnes of relief goods for Rohingya refugees this morning.

The cargo carrying tents, dynamo lights, blankets, medical supplies, meal packs, solar puffs and collapsible jerry-cans landed at 9:40am, our Chittagong correspondent reports quoting Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Habibur Rahman.

The Defense Minister of Singapore government Dr Mohamad Maliki bin Osman expressed his sympathy for the Rohingya refugees and praised Bangladesh government's initiative in handling the situation while handing over the goods to Divisional Commissioner of Chittagong Md Abdul Mannan, the ADC added.

The relief will be sent to Rohingya camps as soon as possible, the ADC said adding that the District Commissioner Md Zillur Rahman Chowdhury was also present during the hand over.
