An activist network for Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh has lauded calls for cutting off financial and other support of Myanmar's military for their involvement in persecuting Rohingyas.

The Free Rohingya Coalition conveyed the appreciation in a statement issued to the media on May 15 in response to the sanction call made by a UN fact-finding mission.

The organization first announced its intention to launch a total boycott of Myanmar because of its continuing atrocity crimes against Rohingya and other minorities earlier this year.

Rohingya people have been singled out for institutionalised forms of persecution, with genocidal intent, according to various studies and they have also been deprived of education, it said.

Over 10 million Rohingya are now living in refugee camps of Bangladesh, who fled persecution in Myanmar. Myanmar's persecution has been termed genocide.
