Road crashes kill 4 in 3 districts

At least four people were killed and 10 others injured in separate road accidents in three districts including Mymensingh and Chittagong.
Two persons were killed and five others injured in Bhaluka upazila of Mymensingh and, a youth was killed in Boalkhali upazila of Chittagong today while a passenger died and five others injured in Chatmohar upazila of Pabna on Thursday.
In Mymensingh, the accident took place when a Dhaka-bound truck collided head-on with another truck at Mehrabari area around 3:00am, killing two people on the spot, said Abul Kalam Azad, officer-in-charge of Bhaluka Police Station.
The victims, both of them truck helpers, were identified as Shafiqul Islam, 30, of Sherpur district and Monirul Islam, 25, of Phulpur upazila in Mymensingh, the OC told our Mymensingh correspondent.
Five others injured were admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. Of them, the condition of one was critical, the police official said.
In Chittagong, a CNG-run auto-rickshaw collided head-on with a tempo on Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar Highway in Boalkhali, leaving the auto-rickshaw driver, Mohammad Manju, 20, of same upazila, critically injured, said Pankaz Barua, assistant sub-inspector of CMCH Police Camp.
Manju succumbed to his injuries at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) around 9:00am, an hour after the accident, our Chittagong correspondent reports.
On Thursday, a passengers of a three-wheeler, locally known as Nasiman was killed in Pabna after the vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into the road-side ditch in Handial area around 3:00pm.
The driver lost control over the wheels of the vehicle killing Md Bahadur Pramanik, 35, a day-labourer from Bhangura upazila.
Of the injured, the driver of the three-wheeler, Helal Uddin, was admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital in critical condition, our Pabna correspondent reports.
