Two die in truck-covered van collision in Sirajganj

Two people were killed and two others were injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a covered van in Tarash upazila of Sirajganj early today.

The deceased were identified as Md Nobi, 30, driver of covered van, and Johurul Islam, 32, driver of the truck.

The accident took place at Khalkula point on Bonpara-Hatikumrul highway around 12:30am as the truck and the covered van collided after the drivers lost control over the wheels, said Assistant Sub-inspector of Tarash Police Station Md Bodiuzzaman.

The drivers died on the spot while the helpers of both vehicles were injured and were taken to Sirajganj General Hospital, he said.

The truck was Dhaka-bound and the covered van was coming from the opposite direction, the official said.
