Raushan Ershad, the senior presidium member of the Jatiya Party, is going to be the opposition leader of the 10th Jatiya Sangsad.

Raushan, the wife of Jatiya Party (JP) Chairman MH Ershad, made the comment on reply of a query during a press briefing at the Jatiya Sangsad Media Centre today.

The JP is carrying out all the party activities following the direction of the party chief, Raushan insisted during the briefing that held after she was declared chief of the Jatiya Party Parliamentary Party (JPPP) during a meeting with the newly elected lawmakers of the party.

"How would it be if I who was once the president of the country become the opposition leader? So, it better, you become the opposition leader and I will support you," Raushan said quoting Ershad as saying in a bid to trying to mend the rift between Ershad and her.

Raushan was flanked by several high profile leaders of the party including Ruhul Amin Hawlader and Anisul Islam Mahmud that apparently dissolved the ongoing rumour over the JP leadership.

The Jatiya Party participated in the 10th parliamentary election to uphold the constitution, she said during the nearly one and a half hour briefing front 5:30pm.

In the meeting, the JP lawmakers decided to joint the Jatiya Sangsad led by Raushan, said JP presidium member Mujibul Haque Chunnu.

When asked whether Ershad will take oath of as the lawmaker of the 10th Jatiya Sangsad, she said "We are going to be sworn in. Ershad will also take oath."

She however escaped the query whether Ershad will take oath tomorrow.

Raushan also reiterated that an interim election may hold through the two major political parties reach on a consensus after holding dialogues.

He also urged both major political camps to sit for dialogue for the betterment of the country and its people.
