Raped, girl takes own life in Ctg

An 18-year-old garment worker took her own life in Chittagong city yesterday allegedly after being stalked and raped by three stalkers including a distant relative.
Md Sharif, father of the deceased, filed a case against the trio under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act today, reports our Chittagong correspondent.
Hailing from Anwara upazila in Chittagong, the victim was a worker of a garment factory in Karnaphuli Export Processing Zone.
She used to live near her workplace in Patenga.
The accused are: Md Mokthar, 25, and his friends -- Md Iqbal, 22, and Md Belal, 23. Mokthar is a distant relative of the girl. The accused hailed from the same upazila.
An uncle of the girl, Lokman Hakim, said the trio used to stalk her by making indecent proposals on mobile phone.
As she did not respond, they had threatened her with dire consequences, he added.
Hasina Akter, sister of the deceased, said the stackers followed her when the girl was returning to her workplace on October 10 after spending the Eid-ul-Azha vacation at her village home.
The stalkers forced the girl into a CNG-run auto-rickshaw around 4:00pm and took her to a hotel at Station Road and raped her, alleged Lokman.
Meanwhile, Kotwali police in a drive at the hotel arrested them and produced before a court on Saturday in connection with prostitution. Later, they were freed on bail in the afternoon.
On Sunday 6:30am, the victim and her roommate went out for their workplace as usual. When her roommate, Kamrun Nahar, returned home at 6:00pm, she found the door closed from inside.
As she peeped through the fence, she saw the body of Kohinur hanging from the ceiling.
Police suspect she might have taken her own life between 12:30pm and 6:00pm.
A suicide note was found beside her body where she blamed Mokthar and his friends for the death, said Sub-Inspector Zakir Hossain of Patenga Police Station.
