Liton wins RCC polls

Awami League mayoral runner AHM Khairuzzaman Liton has won the Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) elections defeating his rival BNP candidate Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul by a big margin, according to election officials.

As per results of the total 138 polling centres, Liton bagged a total of 1,65,096 votes while his nearest contestant Bulbul got 77, 700 votes.

Syed Amirul Islam, returning officer of Rajshahi election commission, said while announcing the result at the control room at Rajshahi Government Laboratory School.

Liton got around 68 per cent votes while Bulbul secured around 32 per cent votes cast in the election held today, Nurul Islam Sarker, organising secretary of Rajshahi city unit of Awami League, told the Daily Star.

A total of 76 per cent votes were cast in the election, Sarker, also an election agent of Liton, said.
