Rajeev Sethi new Grameenphone CEO

Rajeev Sethi became the second Indian national to become the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Grameenphone, the country’s most popular mobile network service.

Sethi, who has worked as the chief marketing officer (CMO) for Telenor’s Indian subsidiary Uninor, will be replacing Vivek Sood, who became the CEO of Grameenphone in 2013.

Telenor’s Bangladesh subsidiary Grameenphone circulated a press release in this regard today announcing the appointment of Rajeev Sethi. He will be joining office from December 1.

Rajeev Sethi served as CMO in Uninor for nearly two years. Prior to that, he spent more than three years as the head of Uninor’s Uttar Pradesh East circle.

A MBA graduate in Marketing, Finance and Operations from Indian Institute of Management in Lucknow, Sethi is said to have significant experience in ICT industry, including executive engagements in companies such as Vodafone, HP, Hutchison Telecom and Asian Paints.

He was is the second Indian national to be appointed Grameenphone chief after his predecessor Vivek Sood.

“I’m honored to join Grameenphone and become part of the efforts to provide internet for all in Bangladesh,” Sethi said in his message after the appointment.

“I’m humble and grateful for the opportunity to join the team and serving more than 50 million customers with critical mobile services,” Sethi added.

Telenor aims to stimulate further growth and strengthen its position in the markets with the executive change, said Sigve Brekke, executive vice president and head of Telenor in Asia.
