Rail communications of Kishoreganj with Mymensingh and Dhaka remain suspended since this afternoon as the engine of an intercity train derailed in Kishoreganj Railway Station due to technical glitch.

The communications will take several hours to restore as a salvage train which set off from Akhaura Railway Station in Brahmanbaria takes nearly three hours to reach the spot, Joyanta Kumar Saha, station master of Kishoreganj Railway Station, told The Daily Star.

The train services came to a halt around 2:15pm after the engine of Dhaka-bound Egaro Sindhu Express derailed at the railway station as soon as it started its journey, reports our Kishoreganj correspondent.

The rescue train started its journey around 3:15pm for Kishoreganj, Saha added.
