Raaga & Rhythm held at Chhayanaut

Peshkar Cultural Forum organised a classical music (instrumental) concert at the main auditorium of Chhayanaut, Dhanmondi on January 16. The concert, titled Taaza Raaga & Rhythm, was the first classical concert by Peshkar and featured a solo sitar, flute and tabla recital.

Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu attended the event as chief guest while noted musician Azad Rahman spoke as special guest. Veteran cultural personality Kamal Lohani presided over the programme.

Sitarist Ebadul Huq Shaikat set off the soiree with raga Hamsakinkini. The artiste later presented auchar alap, vilambit and drut compositions set on raga Charukeshi. Mir Naqibul Islam accompanied him on tabla.

Flautist Murtaza Kabir Murad gave a performance on raga Marwa. He also performed a dhun at the soiree. Swarup Hossain assisted him on tabla.

Ashoke Paul presented solo tabla lahora on teen taal. Alamgir Parvez was on nagma.

Peshkar is a platform for young classical musicians of Dhaka who seek to showcase their talent through regular performances.
