Question paper leakage

Question paper leakage

Preventive measures must be implemented

A government inquiry body probing the leak of HSC English-II question papers revealed in their report that questions for Mathematics-II had also been leaked. The probe body identified that the leaked papers were circulated using hard copies, SMS and social media. Although unable to find the exact source of the leak, the probe body admitted that due to the many stages through which question papers are formulated, leakage could have occurred at any of the intermediate steps. We condemn this flagrant violation of academic integrity which undermines the spirit of learning. We hope the Education Ministry takes heed of the probe committee's suggestions and fixes the cracks in its preparation system.
The committee has suggested reducing the number of steps whereby the questions are prepared. They have also suggested moving the entire process online in an effort to digitize education further. It is high time the ministry takes this suggestion on board as it is in line with the government's vision of crafting a Digital Bangladesh. The matter of security should also be taken into consideration as the probe body insisted that finding the source of the leak was beyond their jurisdiction and fell within the duties of law enforcement. We hope that these two integral institutions of the society can work together more seamlessly in the future to bring the culprits to book. The onus is now very much on the Education Ministry to move quickly to rectify the flaws in order to make sure that learning and education continues unhindered.
