Terming the proposed budget for 2014-15 fiscal as “too dreamy”, Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad today expressed his doubt over its implementation.
"The proposed budget is not highly-ambitious. Rather, it is too dreamy. There is no specific proposal and direction (in the budget) on how to implement it," Ershad said.
He was giving formal reaction on the proposed budget at a press conference at his Banani party office in the capital.
Ershad’s remark came two days after Finance Minister AMA Muhith placed the annual budget of Tk 250,506 crore before the parliament.
Former military ruler HM Ershad and his wife Raushan Ershad, also opposition leader, lauded the budget by thumping up their desks when the budget was placed on Thursday.
But today in his reaction, Ershad expressed his dissatisfaction over the budget saying, “There were no adequate allocations in education, agriculture and health sectors”.
His party will remain vocal in parliament on these issues, Ershad said.
Jatiya Party Secretary General Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu, Ershad's political and press secretary Shunil  Shuvo Roy and others were present at the conference.
