Prime accused of Comilla businessman murder held

Police today arrested former BCL leader Saleh Ahmed Russel and two others in the capital in connection with the murder of Comilla businessman Ahsan Habib Shumu.

Russel, ex-organising secretary of Comilla Victoria College unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League, is the prime accused, Saiful Islam, 20, an accused in the murder case while Shawkat, 22, is a suspect in the crime.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team picked up Russel and Saiful from capital's Mouchak area around 3:30pm, police said.

Shawkat was arrested in Uttara area, Sub-Inspector Firoz Ahmed of Comilla Sadar police Station told our Comilla correspondent.
