Why no BNP programme on Ilias Ali, Goyeshwar asks

BNP standing committee member Goyeshwar Chandra Roy today criticised high-ups of his party for not holding any programme on BNP’s missing leader M Ilias Ali.

“Why is BNP afraid of remembering its missing leader Ilias Ali? He went missing as a BNP leader, not as a person of Sylhet,” he said at a discussion programme at city’s Jatiya Press Club organised by Sylhet Division unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Forum.

BNP this year did not have any programme to observe four years of Ilias Ali’s disappearance.

“I got the opportunity to express my sympathy to Ilias when some students from Sylhet organised the programme. The government had feared him seriously,” Goyeshwar said at today’s programme.

The BNP policymaker questioned why BNP stopped its programme demanding return of Ilias Ali.

Former lawmaker and BNP Organising Secretary (Sylhet Division) M Ilias Ali, 48, went missing along with his driver in April 17, 2012 from Dhaka’s Banani area.

BNP has been claiming for long that government agencies had picked them up.
