BNP Standing Committee Member Khondaker Mosharraf Hossain today said the waterlogging in the country’s two major cities --Dhaka and Chattogram --is an “outcome of the government’s tide of development”.

“The country’s two major cities (Dhaka and Chattogram) were washed away and people’s normal lives were disrupted seriously due to the rain over the last few days. If it is happened then where and for whom the development has been undertaken?” Mosharraf raised the question.

While addressing a programme in Dhaka, the BNP leader, brought corruption allegations against the people within the government and said, “We know well for whom the development projects were undertaken.”

He also blasted Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader as he blamed BNP men for spreading rumour over human sacrifice required to build Padma Bridge and said the government will not be able to mislead the people by spread such propaganda.

“The government is now taking money from the people’s pockets in the name of development while it is plunging the people into an utter suffering,” he alleged.

He also came down hard on the government for appointing AHM Mustafa Kamal as finance minister as he is among the top richest businessmen in Bangladesh.

“No richest businessman is made a finance minister of a country, but it has been done in Bangladesh. And thus, the finance minister is very much eager to ensure benefits of the richest people,” he added.

Mosharraf said the government has widened  the VAT area, increased price of gas and expenditure on mobile phone use ignoring the people interest.
