BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia today alleged that the government is demeaning the country’s independence and sovereignty by awarding corridor to India in the name of transit.

“Transit facility has been given to India for only Tk 192 per tonne which is very disgraceful for us,” Khaleda said while addressing an iftar party at a hotel in Dhaka this evening.

The BNP chief also mentioned that Tk 700 to 800 is needed for a bus or truck to cross over the Jamua Bridge.

“Now, there is no dignity, independence and sovereignty of Bangladesh,” she opined.

Khaleda, also chief of 20-party alliance, called upon the people to get united and said she would take to the street if necessary to protect the country.

“I am always with you (people) and will remain in future. I have enough courage and ability to demonstrate on the street.”

She also crticised the government for incurring the country’s huge losses and said, “We have already wasted lot of time. We will not tolerate this anymore.”
