Visiting US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Wendy Sherman has called upon all political parties in Bangladesh to engage in dialogue so that the next election can be held in a free, fair and inclusive manner.

Wendy Sherman said this in a meeting with BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia at her Gulshan residence this afternoon.

The two leaders discussed wide range of issues including current political situation in Bangladesh during the nearly hour-long meeting, BNP standing committee member Abdul Moeen Khan said while briefing journalists on the meeting.

Apart from Moeen, US Ambassador Marcia Bernicat and Khaleda’s adviser Sabih Uddin Ahmed and Reaz Rahman were present at the meeting.

“The visiting US delegation has already expressed their opinion on the recently held Dhaka North, Dhaka South, and Chittagong City Corporation elections. We all know that they have called upon to investigate the irregularities during the elections,” Khan said after the meeting.

However, he did not make any comment regarding the matter on behalf of the party.
