Sramik Dal to bring out May Day procession tomorrow

Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal, labour wing of BNP, today decided to bring out a procession in Dhaka tomorrow to mark the historic May Day, as police “denied” them permission for holding a workers' rally on the day at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital.

Sramik Dal General Secretary Nurul Islam Khan Nasim announced the programme at a press conference at BNP's Nayapaltan central office.

"The government has extremely humiliated us by not giving permission for the workers' rally on the day. We strongly protest and condemn the government's autocratic decision," he said.

He said Sramik Dal has decided to bring out a rally from in front of BNP’s Nayapaltan central office around 10:00am tomorrow, marking the May Day.

Sramik Dal wanted to hold the workers' rally at Suhrawardy Udyan on May 1 marking the May Day. BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia was scheduled to address the programme as chief guest. However, Dhaka Metropolitan Police did not give permission to the party for holding the rally.
