Rizvi sent to jail on surrender

BNP Joint Secretary General Rizvi Ahmed was denied bail and sent to jail after his surrender today in five arson attack cases.

Judge Kamrul Hossain Mollah of Metropolitan Session Judges Court in Dhaka passed the order in the morning.

The cases were filed with Ramna, Motijheel, Khilgaon and Pallabi police stations in the capital during the party-led 20-party alliance’s anti-government movement in 2013 and 2015.

However, the same court today granted him bail in another arson attack case filed with Jatrabari Police Station last year.

Earlier, arrest warrant was issued against him in July and August in the six cases filed against him. 

Rizvi is accused of around 50 cases filed with different police stations in Dhaka.
