JP won’t quit cabinet: Raushan

Jatiya Party is not going to quit cabinet for now, party’s presidium member and leader of the opposition Raushan Ershad said today.

“No,” Raushan said emerging from the meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her office at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.

A journalist asked Raushan whether JP ministers are going to quit the cabinet. In reply, Raushan just said, “No.”

Raushan’s decision contradicted with the party chief and her husband HM Ershad who has been recently saying that JP ministers should come out of the cabinet and play the role of a real opposition party.

After taking office as JP co-chair, GM Quader last week told reporters that both Ershad and Raushan have sought appointment from the PM to discuss the quitting of JP ministers from the cabinet.

But Raushan’s latest statement went against Ershad’s decision, party insiders said.
