Kawsar gets BNP ticket for Rangpur city polls

Rangpur city BNP’s Vice President Kawsar Zaman has been given the ticket from BNP to contest in the upcoming Rangpur City Corporation polls.

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia finalised the nomination last night from a pool of five probable candidates placed forward by Rangpur district unit of the party.

The district’s BNP Organising Secretary Asadul Habib Dulu took the message back to Rangpur last night, Syrul Kabir Khan, a staff of Khaleda’s press wing, told The Daily Star.

It is notable that, Kawsar Zaman had contested in Rangpur City Corporation elections last time on BNP ticket, but he lost to pro-Awami League candidate Sharfuddin Ahmed Jhantu.

This year, the Rangpur city elections will be held on December 21.
