The prime minister will sit again with the political parties, which were invited for dialogue at Gono Bhaban before the general election, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said today.

The parties will be invited to the Gono Bhaban through letters, the minister said at the AL office on Bangabandhu Avenue in Dhaka.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will hold the meetings to address the post-polls situation, he informed.

WHICH PARTIES TOOK PART IN DIALOGUES?

A total of 234 political leaders of 70 political parties took part in the dialogues before the general election.

BNP-led Jatiya Oikyafront, Awami-League-led 14-party grand alliance and other alliances of left-leaning parties and Islamic parties took part in the dialogues.

WHAT WAS THE ISSUE OF THE DIALOGUE HELD BEFORE POLLS?

Different political parties including Jatiya Oikyafront, Jatiya Party and Bikalpadhara held dialogues with the prime minister at Gono Bhaban amid uncertainty over participation of all political parties in the election.

The parties were divided over the mode of the election-time government, dissolution of parliament, use of electronic voting machines and the role of army during the election.

The BNP and its allies as well as some other opposition parties demanded a non-partisan government, dissolution of parliament and reconstitution of the Election Commission before the polls, among other things.

The AL and its allies said that the election would be held in line with the constitution, meaning with the incumbent government in office and without dissolving the parliament.
