Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Qauder has been shifted from Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to a cabin of the Mount Elizabeth Hospital this afternoon.

Quader is doing well. His blood pressure and diabetes are under control, Sheikh Walid Faiz, information officer of bridges division, said in a press release.

Prof Dr Abu Nasar Rizvi, the physician at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) who is accompanying Quader in Singapore, gave this latest update on the AL leader's health condition quoting the medical board of Mount Elizabeth Hospital.

Family members of Quader were present at the lobby of the Singapore hospital today during the briefing.

Quader's health condition improved further after the successful bypass surgery in Singapore on March 23.

Quader, also the Road Transport and Bridges Minister, underwent a successful bypass surgery at the Mount Elizabeth Hospital by a team of surgeons led by Cardiothoracic Surgeon Dr Sivathasan Cumaraswamy on March 20.

Quader was admitted to BSMMU on March 3 following breathing complications and tests that revealed three blockages in his coronary arteries.

He was flown to Singapore the next day.

Meanwhile, Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal visited Quader at the Mount Elizabeth hospital on Friday afternoon, reports BSS.
