Graft case: Khaleda's bail extended

A Dhaka court yesterday extended BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's bail in Zia Charitable Trust graft case till October 14.

Judge Md Akhtaruzzaman of Special Judge Court-5 passed the order after Advocate Masud Ahmed Talukder submitted a petition, seeking extension of her bail.

The court also fixed the same date for passing order on the prosecution's petition, seeking cancellation of Khaleda's bail. On September 20, the same court ordered to continue the case's trial in her absence.   

Meanwhile, another Dhaka court yesterday adjourned the hearing on charge framing against Khaleda in connection with 11 criminal cases until October 28.

Judge KM Imrul Kayes of the Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court of Dhaka passed the order after her lawyer submitted 11 separate petitions seeking adjournment of the hearing.
