Awami League mayoral candidate for Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh envisions future Dhaka as a tourist hotspot in his manifesto.

To ensure that the capital realises its potential in that regard, Taposh said Dhaka needs to be revived.

As part of a long-term plan in this regard, the central jail area will be redesigned via plantations and amusement parks and theatres will be established, he pledged while reading out his manifesto at the party office this morning.

Areas surrounding Buriganga and Shitalakhya rivers will also be revamped, he added.

The AL-nominated mayoral candidate broke down his plan broadly under a few points which included, revival of heritage, beautification, establishing law and order, and overall modernisation.

“If elected, I will construct museums and art galleries in collaboration with everyone and revive both Old Dhaka and the current city,” he promised.

Roads will be divided into separate lanes, for high-speed vehicles, for medium-speed vehicles and some will be dedicated for walking.

The mayoral candidate also said they will be very vigilant and carry out daily activities to eradicate mosquitoes.

He also highlighted plans for construction of roads that can be easily accessible by fire trucks and said they will create their own firefighting team.

Adequate number of hostels for women and students will be built. A 24/7 helpline and app will be activated.

He also ensured city dwellers will get access to basic amenities within 90 days of his office joining.
