All parties to get invited to Bangabandhu's birth centenary programme

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said all the political parties except the anti-liberation forces will get invited to the Bangabandhu's birth centenary programme.

"All the political parties, including the BNP, will get invited to the Bangabandhu's birth centenary programme…But the anti-liberation elements will not be allowed in the programme," he said while addressing a view-exchange meeting at Awami League President Sheikh Hasina's political office at Dhanmondi here.

Quader, also the minister for Road Transport and Bridges Ministry, said the BNP also was invited to the Mujib Year's countdown programme, but they didn't turn up. It was a matter of BNP as to why they did not join the programme, he added.

Similarly, the BNP will get invitation in the Bangabandhu's birth centenary programme, Quader said.

Terming the Father of the Nation as the historical hero, the minister said "Bangabandhu is a great hero, he does not belong to any political party. We never want to make him a leader of any particular party."

The programme is open for all irrespective of their political affiliations, said the ruling party leader, adding that the main theme of the programme is to present the country as a brand before the world.

Information Minister and Awami League Joint General Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud, Awami League Presidium Members Advocate Jahangir Kabir Nanak and Abdur Rahman, Organising Secretary SM Kamal Hossen, Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap, Office Secretary Barrister Biplob Barua, Central Committee member Iqbal Hossain Apu, Awami League Dhaka City South Unit president Abu Ahmed Mannafi its General Secretary Humayun Kabir, Sramik League President Fazlul Haq Montu, Jubo League General Secretary Mainul Hossen Khan Nikhil, Jubo Mahila League President Nazma Akhter its General Secretary Apu Ukil ,among others, attended the programme.
