Nat’l consensus must to curb militancy: Fakhrul

National consensus is a must to combat militancy, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said today.

“It (militancy) is a new phenomenon which the country is facing at present. To eliminate it from the country, national consensus is a must,” Fakhrul said while talking to reporters at Thakurgaon bus stand just before starting for Dhaka.

The government should forge unity to combat this, Fakhrul said adding that it is not possible for the government alone to eliminate militancy from the nation.

“We hope the government will take measures to create unity among the political parties in this regard,” he added.
