Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) members claimed to have detained BNP's Rangpur city unit President Mozaffar Hossain from Lalmonirhat early today.

A patrol team of the elite force detained Mozzafar from Mahendranagar area of Lalmonirhat Sadar, reports our Lalmonirhat correspondent quoting Mahfuzur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Lalmonirhat Sadar Police Station.

Earlier, Mozaffar’s family claimed that he was picked up by law enforcers early Friday.

The family alleged that the BNP leader was picked up by plainclothes law enforcers from his residence in Rangpur city's Shalban-Mistripara area around 4:30am Friday.

Claiming to be law enforcers, some 10 to 12 men asked Mozzafar to come with them and left on a microbus, Mozaffar's daughter Mahin Tabassum said.

They did not show any identity card and no weapon was visible with them, she added.
