The High Court is set to hold hearing on writ petition filed by BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia today that challenged the legality of the government's decision to take her back to jail from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU).

Yesterday, the HC bench of Justice Sheikh Hassan Arif and Justice Razik-Al-Jalil fixed 2:00pm today for hearing the petition, Barrister Kayser Kamal, a lawyer for Khaleda, told The Daily Star.

Khaleda Zia submitted the petition on Sunday through her lawyer Barrister Nawshad Jamir also praying to the HC to order the government to send her to a specialised hospital for treatment.

Khaleda said in the petition that the government has taken her back to jail without completing her treatment at BSMMU, which is a violation of her fundamental rights.

Khaleda Zia, who was admitted to BSMMU as per an earlier HC directive, was taken back to jail on November 8.
