JP gets 47 seats from grand alliance

The ruling Awami League has given 47 seats to HM Ershad-led Jatiya Party for contesting the 11th parliamentary election.

The Daily Star has obtained a copy of the list of the 47 aspirants from a top leader of JP close to Ershad.

There are at least five constituencies including Patuakhali-1, Cox’s Bazar-3, Cumilla-2 and Brahmanbaria-2 from where AL also gave nomination to its aspirants.

The Jatiya Party will submit nomination for around 150 other constituencies, said JP presidium member Foysal Chisty.

The final list of the aspirants of the grand alliance will be made public after scrutiny of nomination paper on December 2.

Earlier on Sunday, AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader announced that the final list of the grand alliance’s aspirants will be made public on November 26 but AL backtrack from its position, for what Obaidul said “tactical and technical reason”.
