Jatiya Party chief and Leader of the Opposition in parliament HM Ershad is likely to return home tomorrow.

Ershad went to Singapore for better treatment on January 20 because of liver complications and low haemoglobin.

“The Jatiya Party chairman is scheduled to land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport [in Dhaka] at 10:30pm on Monday,” JP presidium member SM Faysal Chisti told The Daily Star.

Ershad's health condition is now stable, he said, adding that the JP boss was released from Singapore National University Hospital. He was staying at an adjacent house.

The party, in a statement yesterday, also said Ershad's physical condition was much better now.

The 89-year-old former military dictator had undergone treatment at the Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka for three months before he flew to Singapore.

Earlier on December 10 last year, he had gone to Singapore for treatment and returned on December 26, just three days before the 11th parliamentary election.

He was elected an MP from Rangpur-3, even though he could not carry out any campaign.
