Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has invited Islami Oikyajote over to Gono Bhaban to discuss over the upcoming national election.

The dialogue will be held at PM’s official residence Gono Bhaban at 2:00pm on Tuesday. It was addressed to Abdul Latif Nejami, chief of Oikyajote.

Earlier on November 1, Islami Oikyajote sent a letter to Prime Minister Hasina to hold talks over the next parliamentary election, likely in December.

HOW WERE THE TALKS INITIATED?

The dialogues were initiated after Gono Forum President Dr Kamal Hossain on behalf of the Jatiya Oikyafront wrote to the PM on October 28, requesting her to hold talks. On October 30, the PM invited the alliance for talks at her official residence on November 1.

Bikalpadhara Bangladesh (BDB) President and Juktofront Chairman Dr AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury on October 30 wrote to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also president of ruling Awami League, for talks over holding the upcoming general election in a free, fair and inclusive manner.

Responding to Juktofront’s call for dialogue, PM Sheikh Hasina on October 31 invited them for talks at the Gono Bhaban around 7:30pm on November 2.

Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad also sent a letter to PM Hasina on October 31 to join talks over the upcoming election, and PM on the same day replied him with an invitation to sit for dialogue on November 5.

PM also invited the Left Democratic Alliance (LDA), a platform of the left-leaning parties, on October 31 to sit for talks.
