The High Court today directed prison authorities to hospitalise BNP Joint Secretary General Rizvi Ahmed for treatment.

The HC bench of Justice Naima Haider and Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam passed the order after hearing a writ moved by Rizvi’s wife Anzuman Ara Begum.

In the petition, Anzuman said that her husband has been suffering different ailments including diabetes.

“He should be given better treatment,” Rizvi’s lawyer Sagir Hossain Leon told The Daily Star.

The jail authorities have to admit Rizvi to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University for treatment after the copy of today’s order reaches to the jail, he said.

Rizvi who is now in Kashimpur jail in Gazipur, is accused of 19 criminal cases. Of the cases, he got bail in 15.
