Khaleda gets bail in 10 cases

A Dhaka court today granted bail to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in 10 cases including one of sedition.

Metropolitan Sessions Judge Kamrul Hossain Mollah granted Khaleda bail in the sedition case filed by a Supreme Court lawyer.

The court came up with the order after Khaleda surrendered before it seeking bail in the case. The court also accepted the charge against her.

Momtaz Uddin Ahmad Mehedi, a SC and member of the ruling Awami League's central committee, filed the case against Khaleda for her remarks on the number of Liberation War martyrs.

Meanwhile, the court granted bail to Khaleda in nine arson attack cases filed with Draussalam Police Station.

The court fixed October 10 for the next date of hearing in the sedition and nine arson cases.

Khaleda appeared before Judge of Session Judge’s Court-2 Hosneara Begum who fixed September 8 for the next hearing in Barapukuria coalmine graft case.

Earlier, Khaleda started from her Gulshan residence at 10:05am, Sayrul Kabir Khan, a press wing staff of the BNP chief, told The Daily Star.
