BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today said that the government is pushing the country towards a fall by creating social and political anarchy.

“Anarchy is not only in the financial sector but also in social and political aspects which are pushing the country to the edge,” Fakhrul said while addressing a function held at Brac Inn Centre in Dhaka this afternoon.

He also underscored the need for a national unity to get rid from the situation.

In a separate programme held at the Holy Family auditorium in Dhaka, the BNP leader criticised a police high up for his instructions to his subordinates to retaliate to maintain law.

“It seems that they (police) are above accountability. They have been given license to kill,” he said adding that nobody, even a political leader, can speak the way they are talking.

It may be pointed out that Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia yesterday said that the law enforcers can open fire in retaliation as per law that gives them the right to protect themselves when they come under attack while nabbing criminals.
