DB picked up BNP leader Mizan from Gulshan home

Detectives claimed to have picked up BNP’s national executive committee member Maj (Retd) Mizanur Rahman from his Gulshan residence in Dhaka in the wee hours of today.

Contacted, Assistant Commissioner (Gulshan zone) Rafiqul Islam of Dhaka Metropolitan Police told The Daily Star that members of Detective Branch (DB) picked him up last night.

Maj (Retd) Mizan and four others have been detained over attempts to make Gazipur City Corporation election questionable, Masudur Rahman, deputy commissioner (media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, told The Daily Star today.

Meanwhile, condemning the incident, BNP's Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi demanded that Maj (Retd) Mizan should be produced before the public immediately,

His daughter Rasmia Amrin Rehman told The Daily Star that detectives had told her to delete some Facebook Live videos she uploaded during her father’s pick up.
