Gazette on home ministry’s split published

The government today issued a gazette notification on splitting home ministry into two divisions.

On July 1 last year, the home ministry was split into the two divisions: Public Security Division and Security Services Division.

The Public Security Division will have departments on police, BGB, ansar, coast guard and investigation agencies of ICT.

On the other hand, the Security Services Division will have departments on Directorate of Immigration and Passport, jails, fire service and civil defence, narcotics controls, National Telecom Monitoring Centre.

The prime minister reformed the home ministry under sub-rule (i), rule 3 of Rules of Business, 1996, the gazette on the president’s order in this regard was signed by Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam reads.

A total of 493 officials and employees will be working in the two divisions.

A total of 163 posts have been created in Public Security Division while 243 posts in Security Services Division.
