Fakhrul flown to US for treatment

BNP acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has been flown to the United States for better treatments, a party spokesman said.

Syrul Kabir Khan, staff of BNP chairperson’s media wing, told The Daily Star that Fakhrul left Singapore for US on Monday night.

“It has been done upon advice of the doctors at Singapore National University Hospital,” he said adding that experts said the operation on his shoulder is “risky”.

The BNP leader, who was released on bail for six weekson July 14, went to Singapore for advanced treatment. He has been suffering from ailments including blocks in the shoulder and heart.

However, Syrul could not give any further details on which hospital or which state Fakhrul would be taken to.
