Election Commission today warned the election officials of stern action if allegations of irregularities are found against them during the upazila elections.

EC Secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed came up with the warning while briefing reporters at his commission office this afternoon, just a day before the second phase of upazila elections.

He also said the officers-in-charge of Kulaura Police Station in Moulvibazar and Fulchhari Police Station in Gaibandha have already been transferred for their “biased role” ahead of the elections.

Besides, the OCs of Dinajpur’s Birganj, Bogura’s Shibganj, Naogaon’s Manda and Bandarban’s Alikadam police stations have been relieved from polls duty over similar allegations, he also said, adding that the additional superintendent of police will perform duty in the respective police stations.

The second phase of election to 116 upazilas of different districts will begin at 8:00am tomorrow and end at 4:00pm without any break.
