BNP Standing Committee Member Khandkar Mosharraf Hossain today criticised the chief election commissioner for drafting a roadmap ahead of the next general election without creating level playing field for all.

“You (CEC) will have to create a level playing field first. Otherwise, the roadmap will go in vain,” Mosharraf said while addressing a programme at the National Press Club this noon.

Earlier on Tuesday, Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda unveiled the drafted roadmap for the next parliamentary election and decided to begin dialogue with political parties this July to get their opinions on different issues, including reformation of electoral laws and delimitation of constituencies.

Claiming that administrations cannot function independently under a partisan government during polls, the BNP leader said there is no alternative but to hold the next general election under a neutral and nonpartisan administration.

About BNP’s framework of the polls-time government, Mosharraf said Khaleda Zia will present a structure in this regard after the month of Ramadan.
