Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed today drummed in support of the Election Commission’s roadmap to hold the next general election and termed it realistic.

“It is a realistic roadmap. We welcome it,” Tofail, also the advisory council member of ruling Awami League, came up with the remark at his ministry office hours after EC announced the roadmap.

About BNP’s demand for polls-time supportive government, the veteran Awami League leader said it will not be acceptable if any political party press an anti-constitutional demand.

The government will not accept any demand that goes against the spirit of the constitution, Tofail said, clearing his party’s stance to hold the next general election in due time.

Responding to a query, Tofail said it is BNP’s own matter whether it will take part in the national polls. “But, I think, the party will take a lesson from the past.”
