AL expects impartiality from EC: Quader

Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda’s applause to BNP founder General Ziaur Rahman   may be a strategy to ensure the party’s participation in the next general election, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said today.

“BNP is in cheerful mood now. I expect it will remain intact until the election,” Quader came up with the remarks responding to a query after a seminar at the Krishibid Institution, Bangladesh in Dhaka this afternoon.

“We don’t want to be delighted by the Election Commission rather we expect impartiality,” Quader also road transport and bridges minister said.

Yesterday, the Chief Election Commissioner lauded BNP founder General Ziaur Rahman and said he restored “multi-party democracy” in the country.

The chief election commission did not make such statement during the press briefing, Quader said responding to a question. “I will want to know about in this regard during the party’s talks scheduled for October 18,” he added.
