A complaint case has been filed with Barisal Sadar District Judge Court today, seeking remedy to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s celebration of her birthday on August 15, the National Mourning Day, reports our Barisal correspondent.

Moyeen Tushar, former joint convener of Bangladesh Chhatra League at Barisal Govt. Brojomohon College filed the case today.

After accepting the case, Judge HM Kabir Hossain has kept the case in waiting.

Plaintiff lawyer KBS Ahmed Kabir said, “Khaleda Zia was born on September 9, 1946. She celebrates her birthday on August 15, though she was not born on this day. For this reason my client Moyeen Tushar filed the case with the court seeking a remedy,” reports Bangla daily Prothom Alo.

After assuming power in 1991, the BNP chief had begun celebrating her birthday on this day every year. She drew flak from different platforms, especially from the Awami League, for observing her birthday on August 15, which is the death anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
