BNP to win 80% seats: Gayeshwar

BNP-nominated mayoral candidates will gain victory in 80 percent municipalities if the polls are held in a free and fair manner, the party’s Standing Committee Member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy said today.

The senior BNP leader made the comment after placing wreaths at the grave of the party founder late president Ziaur Rahman at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in Dhaka this morning.

The maiden partisan municipality polls will be held on December 30 in 236 municipalities across the country.

Gayeshwar along with some senior party leaders placed wreaths at the grave marking the 19th founding anniversary of Jatiyatabadi Muktijuddher Projonmo, a front body of BNP.

Talking to reporters at the same place, another BNP standing committee member Abdul Moeen Khan came down hard on the Election Commission and said, “EC would ensure Awami League’s interests instead of arranging the municipality polls in a fair and credible manner”.
