President Abdul Hamid will hold dialogue with all registered political parties to discuss the reconstitution of the Election Commission (EC).

“The honourable president will hold dialogue with registered political parties before appointing the Chief Election Commissioner and commissioners. The dialogue will begin after December 16," said President's Press Secretary Joynal Abedin.

His remark came up after a two-member BNP delegation -- Senior Joint Secretary General Rizvi Ahmed and Vice-Chairman Ruhul Alam Chowdhury submitted the party’s 13-point proposals at Bangabhaban.

After submitting the proposals around 11:30am, Rizvi Ahmed expressed hope that President Abdul Hamid would consider their proposals and play a vital role in reconstituting a strong new EC.

Brig Gen Mainul Rahman, assistant military secretary to the president, received the papers on behalf of the president as he left for Singapore in the morning.
