BNP urges govt to lower oil prices

The meeting of the BNP standing committee members with party Chairperson Khaleda Zia in the chair begins at her Gulshan office.

BNP tonight urged the government to adjust prices of all fuel oils in line with the plunge in the global market.
It also have decided to hold party’s national council in March of this year.
The developments came at a meeting of BNP’s standing committee members with party Chairperson Khaleda Zia in the chair at her Gulshan office in Dhaka this evening.

BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir emerging from the ongoing meeting spoke about the decisions with the reporters.
The meeting started around 9:30pm with various agenda including reorganisation of the party, holding its national council and union parishad election, party insiders said.
The highest policy making body of the party may also fix its stance whether the party would take part unilaterally or under the banner of BNP-led 20-party alliance in the upcoming local body polls.
In the December 30 municipality polls, BNP candidates won only 24 mayoral posts.
BNP alleged that the polls were marred by huge irregularities, vote rigging and intimidation by the ruling party men.
