BNP Standing Committee Member Moudud Ahmed today accused the government of tarnishing the reputation of Bangladesh’s judiciary by putting Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha in a “foul position”.

“The ruling quarter has plunged Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha in a foul situation. The government destroyed image of the judiciary by doing so,” Moudud Ahmed, also a former law minister, said.

He was addressing a programme organised by Bangladesh Democratic Movement at the National Press Club in Dhaka this noon.

Chief Justice Sinha came under attack of the ruling quarter as he claimed in the observation of the 16th amendment verdict that only one person or one man did not do all to gain the country’s independence, Moudud said.

“Has he said (Sinha) a lie?” Moudud saud.

Moudud said except some people, all countrymen from different professions ensured their significant contributions in earning the country’s independence.
